A stunning quality Victorian Period mahogany and satinwood inlaid antique desk by James Shoolbred. The rectangular top in beautifully figured solid mahogany with satinwood and ebony line inlaid banding and an olive green blind and gilt tooled leather writing surface. Each of the seven rectangular drawers having finely carved leaf and harebell detail, circular brass ring pull handles and the drawer edges are banded in satinwood. The kneehole also with finely carved floral spandrels and the sides and back are also constructed using the finest figured solid mahogany and with satinwood banded detail. Raised on six elegant square tapering supports with brass cup castors. Stamped James Shoolbred to the frieze drawer, who was one of the finest late 19th Century cabinet makers. England circa 1890-1900
