A LATE 17TH CENTURY TRANSITIONAL PERIOD OAK COFFER, THIS COFFER PROBABLY DATES FROM 1680-1690 AND IS IN TOTALLY ORIGINAL CONDITION EVEN RETAINING ITS ORIGINAL SPLIT PIN HINGES AND LOCK PLATE. THE SINGLE PLANK TOP HAVING CHIP CARVED DETAIL TO THE EDGES WITH A THREE PANELLED FRONT, BELOW AN ARCADED FRIEZE STANDING ON  ORIGINAL STYLED SUPPORTS CIRCA 1680

CONDITION:THE TOP HAS WHAT WOULD APPEAR TO BE A SPLIT BUT IS IN FACT A KNOT IN THE OAK WHICH HAS OPENED SLIGHTLY (SEE PICTURE)
