A Beautiful Set of Ten Regency Period Mahogany Dining Chairs

A  Beautiful Set of Ten Regency Period Mahogany Dining chairs including two carver armchairs, these chairs are commonly known as "Whitehaven" chairs and were reputedly made by Gillows craftsmen in Whitehaven in The Lake District where Cuban mahogany timber was imported to. These chairs having  simple shaped top rail above a "bar back" in an incredibly strong design, the end back supports having reeded decoration and having simple drop in seats with a slightly bowed front seat rail, supported on square tapering legs further strengthened by an H stretcher circa 1810-1820. These chairs have recently been re-upholstered in a beautiful red, green and gold coloured Zoffany fabric.

Condition: These chairs are in an excellent and sturdy condition, one carver chair has been repaired and has bolts through, a few of the stand chairs have "nibbles" to the reeded back supports, beautifully upholstered
