A Beautiful Aesthetic Period Solid Rosewood Drawing Room Suite

Settee 68" wide x 28" deep x 33" high, Chairs 30" wide x 27" deep x 34" high

A Beautiful aesthetic period solid rosewood drawing room suite. The suite with Japanesk influence is typical of this period with chrysanthemum and sunflower carved detail. Furniture designers at this time were heavily influenced by Dr Christopher Dresser and E.W Godwin, who travelled back from Japan with new and exciting ideas for furniture design. The arm chairs having pierced and carved floral fretwork panels with reeded detail to the arms, the padded backs having a central carved lozenge depicting Ho-Ho birds, with further carved detail to the reeded ends, with generous sprung seats above the front carved seat rail and raised on reeded tapering supports terminating in brass and porcelain castor's. The large settee with similar carved detail throughout and again having a central carved lozenge, the whole raised on reeded tapering supports terminating in brass and porcelain castor's, this suite is upholstered in an ivory silk circa 1870-1880

Condition: This suite is in excellent original condition, fully cleaned and waxed. Recently re-upholstered to a very high standard in an ivory silk fabric, there are a couple of minor stains to the fabric, which could be cleaned
