A beautiful Late Victorian Chippendale Revival mahogany duchesse brisee, comprising of a pair of matching tub arm chairs and a stool. Each chair with foliate carved detail and scrolling arms. The sprung seat of serpentine outline with egg and dart moulded detail, raised on four square tapering reeded legs terminating in acanthus carved block feet. The large matching central stool again of serpentine outline, with a sprung frame and the same floral carved detail, egg and dart moulding and raised on identical square tapering supports. All newly upholstered in a beautiful cream Sanderson's silk, circa 1890-1900. The chairs are stamped to the back with a four digit number which could be a design number from the high cabinet makers, such as Gillows or any of the other high quality cabinet makers. Condition: This duchesse brisee is in excellent condition, there are extremely minor chips to the carved detail, fully cleaned and waxed.
