A French 19th Century Rosewood & Kingwood bureau plat. The rectangular top of serpentine outline retaining the original burgundy Moroccan leather inset writing surface with a gadrooned ormolu beaded edge and ormolu edges and caps. The single oak lined frieze drawer veneered in Kingwood with cast ormolu foliate handles. The sides again with Kingwood inlaid panels and the reverse having a "dummy" drawer front, so the writing table can be free standing. Raised on four elegant rosewood cabriole supports with ormolu mounts and terminating in sabots circa 1860-1870 Condition: This bureau plat is in excellent original condition, cleaned and waxed.
