A magnificent Late Victorian mahogany inlaid kidney shaped desk by Edwards & Roberts Of London. The kidney shaped top having an olive green gilt and blind tooled leather inset writing surface. The border cross banded in rosewood with a central ribbon and trailing marquetry foliate detail. The bow front pedestals each having four oak lined graduating drawers, profusely inlaid with marquetry detail and cross banded in satinwood. Retaining the original brass knobs and locks with working key, as is the central rectangular concave drawer. The stiles further inlaid with trailing marquetry harebells. The bowed ends each inlaid with a classical Adams style urn within a laureate border and further ribbon and harebell, satinwood and sycamore inlaid detail. The whole raised on eight square tapering supports with spade feet, English circa 1890-1900
