A superb quality Late Victorian mahogany marquetry inlaid cylinder desk. The upper section having a solid mahogany rectangular top with a brass balustrade gallery and a central marquetry inlaid panel. The solid mahogany cylinder front also with a stunning central marquetry inlaid panel with flowing marquetry foliate and penwork detail, opening to reveal a well fitted interior retaining the original green Morocan leather sliding writing surface. The lower section having an arrangement of four rectangular mahogany lined drawers each with ribbon and harebell inlaid detail. Raised on elegant square tapering supports with a marquetry inlaid urn and further ribbon and harebell inlaid detail, terminating in brass scoket castors. The sides are also similarly inlaid with griffin and floral marquetry inlaid panels. The back of the desk is also polished and inlaid so it can be used free standing. This desk was probably made by one of the premier cabinet makers of this period like Maple & Co or Edwards & Roberts of London, English circa 1890-1900 Condition: This desk is in stunning condition, Fully re-polished.
