An exhibition quality Victorian Period burr walnut, kingwood and ormolu mounted writing desk. The rectangular top with projecting rounded corners veneered in the finest burr walnut with Kingwood and ebony cross banding and having a central olive green leather inset writing surface with intricate gilt and blind tooled detail. The front having an arrangement of nine mahogany lined drawers each with finely cut dovetails and retaining their original locks. Each drawer front cross banded in Kingwood with a central burr walnut panel and boxwood inlaid detail with an ormolu escutcheon and beading. The reverse of the desk also veneered in the finest burr walnut and kingwood, a sure sign of the quality of this piece. The ends of the desk and internal panels are also veneered in stunning burr walnut and kingwood. The canted corners having exquisite cast ormolu mounts.
