A fine pair of Victorian Period burr walnut & marquetry inlaid antique pier cabinets by Edwards & Roberts Of London. Each having a rectangular top veneered in beautifully figured burr walnut with projecting corners. The frieze veneered in amboyna and with exquisite purple heart, boxwood & burr walnut panels above central glazed conforming left and right hand opening doors, enclosing a silk lined interior with mahogany shelving. The doors having ormolu beading and further fine marquetry inlaid detail. The canted corners having finely cast ormolu rams head mounts and again veneered in amboyna, purple heart and walnut. The ends veneered in beautifully figured burr walnut with purple heart banded detail and raised on amboyna, burr walnut and purple heart veneered plinths with projecting corners. Stamped Edwards & Roberts, Wardour Street, London to each door. Sunning quality throughout as you would expect from this premie cabinet maker.
