An Arts & Crafts Period Liberty's style oak bookcase with motto. The flat solid oak over hanging cornice above the frieze which has an applied motto reading "Judge Not A Book By The Cover". With twin rectangular leaded glass doors and hand beaten strap work hinges which open to reveal three adjustable shelves. Having open sides with typical Arts and Crafts swept supports and uprights. The base with an open central section with pierced heart shaped motif typical of Liberty's furniture of this period. Very much in the style of Liberty's of London but probably made by Maple & Co or Harris Lebus. England circa 1900 Condition: This bookcase is in excellent original condition.
