A stunning exhibition quality Victorian Period burr walnut, amboyna, purple heart and sycamore, ormolu mounted credenza. The rectangular top with bowed ends veneered in beautifully figured burr walnut with kingwood and amboyna banding above a sycamore and kingwood frieze with floral marquetry and penwork detail and finely cast ormolu rams head mounts. The central twin panelled doors again constructed using the finest exotic veneers and with stunning marquetry and penwork inlaid panels depicting the arts, opening to reveal a velvet lined shelved interior. Flanked by ormolu mounted pilasters with ribbon and swag finely cast mounts to the top and anthemion mounts to the bottom. Having open shelved ends with mirrored backs and sides, raised on a kingwood and sycamore veneered plinth, again with finely cast ormolu moulding and floral ormolu mounts. This is a stunning quality example of English cabinet making from the Victorian Period although un-marked is firmly attributable either to Gillows of Lancaster or Holland & Co of London who both produced examples similar to this. England circa 1870-1880 Conditon: This credenza is in stunning condition, re-polished in our workshops. FREE UK MAINLAND DELIVERY
