W.F. Preston (fl.1885-1900)
A known artist of the Hull and Liverpool regions represented in the Merseyside Maritime Museum and other Liverpool venues, Preston is known for painting the activities of the local waters on both coasts of the United Kingdom. Pierheads, pilot ships and the wharves are most often depicted, but an occasional large square-rigged merchant ship and the era of steamships are captured as well. He is listed in Gore’s Directory as living on Argyle Street, Birkenhead, Liverpool in 1895.
