A Good 19th Century Amboyna, Ebony & Ormolu Mounted Bonheur Du Jour With Sevres Style Plaques C1870

53" wide x 22" deep x 57" high (26" to writing surface)

 A 19th Century amboyna, ebony and ormolu mounted bonheur du jour with sevres style plaques. The upper section having a raised centre with brass gallery above an open mirrored section, flanked by panelled cupboards in ebonised mahogany with kingwood banding, porcelain plaques and turned and fluted columns with ormolu capitols. The panelled doors having hand painted sevres plaques depicting Marie Antoinette and Elizabeth. The lower section again veneered in amboyna, kingwood and constructed in ebonised mahogany. Having a central frieze drawer opening to reveal a sliding writing compartment, flanked by a further two mahogany lined drawers. The drawer fronts having various sevres style porcelain plaques. The whole raised on turned and fluted columns again with Corinthian capitols united by a shaped shelf and plinth with a mirrored back. English in the French taste. Circa 1870
