A beautiful Arts and Crafts period oak settle by Arthur Simpson of Kendal, this stunning bench typifies everything that Arthur Simpson believed in. The design is simple yet extremely functional and of course every single detail is attended to perfectly. The slightly shaped top rail above twin rectangular fielded oak panels, above a sprung seat base with a later quality tan leather buttoned cushion, the tapering flat arm rests are also typical of Simpson design and show "Voysey" influence, the solid oak frame supported on simple square supports and bears the makers label underneath Circa 1900-1910, this settle has come from a library in Merseyside

Condition: This settle is in excellent original condition, fully cleaned and waxed
